God’s Promises

written by Late
Rev. Dr. Peter. S. Scott, UK. He is a role model in the Christian world; He and his wife Sylvia Scott dedicated their lives to God serving poor in India as God added them with some selfless friends in UK.

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness though our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Though these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that though them you may participate in the world caused by evil desires. 2 Peter 1: 3-4 (NIV).

The vast majority of God's promises to us have conditions directly or indirectly attaché to them. Below is a comprehensive list of the conditions associated with the fifteen confessions of God's Word here I like to be presented. Let each one of us check through it regularly and seek to keep our lives in the line with God's requirements. Whoever read, be open to the Spirit indicating an area in which every one is falling short. When this happens, simply repenting of that sin or shortcoming and do something positive to rectify the situation. Then you and I can believe God's promises with full assurance of our Faith.

The conditions fall into four main divisions: 1) The Bible 2) Christian Life style 3) Worship 4) Relationship with God. These divisions can be throughout of as a wheel. If we are falling short in one area or if one segment is all but missing completely, then we are in for a very bumpy ride!

THE BIBLE: Starting from where you are, work hard to develop your love for the Word of God. Make time to be regularly in the Word. Study it and seek to be regularly in the Word. Study it seek to walk in obedience to it. Come to the Bible with an attitude of humble seeking after God and willingness to submit to Him. Allow time to be still and to meditate upon God's revealed nature. Hear and believe what God is saying in the His Word. Aim to be FILLED with the WORD OF GOD.

CHRISTIAN LIFE STYLE: Look away from your self to the needs of others and, as you are able, seek to meet those needs. Be a giver and sharer. Turn away from 'heart sins' such as envy, pride and conceit. Pursue true meekness and humility.

Never allow yourself to become a party to malicious talk. Utter no lies. Keep your tongue from evil speech. In your actions and words, sow ''SEED OF RIGHTEOUSNESS''. Seek to be filled with the peace and love of God. Never dominate others. Preserve sound judgment and clear discernment in the course of everyday life and seek to maintain righteous standards and a blameless lifestyle. Never ply with sin and never return to life of sin you have been saved from. Be absolutely steadfast about this. Take encouragement from the lives of other Christians who have overcome the enemy before you. Resist the devil and all his lies.

Be absolutely honest in money matters. Have no worry about material or financial situation. Trust God, while being sure to fulfill your part. Jesus said " Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and unto God the things that God's. In other words, be honest in the payment of taxes, and be honest in the discipline of TITHING to God. (In India 90% Christian servants won’t offer Tithing to God). Learn to trust God with your everyday situations and have no fear of sudden disaster. Do not be afraid of mortal man! Obey the voices of CONSCIENCE, and sow seed that will please the Spirit. Never plot evil against anyone.

Be ready to suffer persecution, ridicule and aggression for being a Christian. Make positive efforts to release your life and possessions in the service of God. Take up and use the weapons God has supplied against the devil. Be clothed in the armor of the Lord at all times. Submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he WILL flee from you.

WORSHIP: Worship the true God and Him alone. The Lord Almighty is His name. Turn to Him with all your heart and soul. Rid yourself of all idolatry (religious objects, book collections, records and other paraphernalia that you have regarded in an idolatrous fashion, along with adoration of pop stars, celebrities, football teams, sports personalities etc.). Break away from any involvement with false religions, cults and occult practices, and destroy any objects, books or other materials in your possession connected with such involvement. Such things are a direct offense to the Lord. Free yourself from the love of money and possessions and be free of greed.

Make a decision of your will to devote your life to serving the Lord and worshiping Him alone. Develop a love and reverent fear of Him. Make Most High God your dwelling. Take refuge in Him. Make Him your shelter and your fortress. Trust and hope in Him and call upon Him at all times.

RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD: believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be baptized. Turn away from your sins in meaningful repentance. Learn to praise the Lord. Rejoice in Him and celebrate His salvation. Develop a thankful, worshiping heart towards God. Faithfully attend the meetings of your Church. Free yourself of all rebellion, and when the Lord disciplines obey!

Learn to bring your needs, cares and anxieties to God in prayer and to leave them with Him, acknowledging Him as your helper and deliverer. Rid yourself of pride and submit to God’s ways. Spend unhurried time each day in the Lord’s presence (ideally at the very commencement of your day), allowing time for both prayer and meditation in the scriptures. Learn to share your life with your Heavenly Father, and look for ways to serve Him.

When in prayer: i) Avoid ‘useless babbling’ (religious niceties and vain repetitions). ii) Believe for the answer in faith. iii) Give no room for doubt. iv) Be sure you have forgiven all who have wronged you and put things right with any whom you have wronged. v) Seek the Lord with patent perseverance. vi) Pray in Jesus’ Name, as this is the Father’s will. vii) When praying with others, be in all agreement.

Give much attention to the person of Jesus Christ, learning to abide in Him and developing a living faith in Him as your Lord and Savior. Confess him openly as your Lord, and be fully persuaded about His resurrection from the dead. Maintain a clear conscience, free from condemnation. Seek the higher thing (e.g. wisdom, the spiritual gifts, a ministry to fulfill, etc.). Learn to be secure in the Lord and allow NO FEAR to remain in you.

These confessions do not constitute a “get rich quick system” neither are they an easy way to success in file. The conditions, as you have seen, are demanding, and our motives must be pure. The ultimate purpose of the promises of God is the bringing of His children to maturity in Christ. God is not a giant slot machine in the sky! He is, however, our loving Heavenly Father who delights in giving us all good things to enjoy”. WRITER
